Choosing a Wedding Cake

I congratulate you on your successful engagement! Although the initial excitement is over, you are now faced with many other things to plan and organise for your wedding.

I would like to put your mind at rest by encouraging you to have a look at the wedding cakes I have designed and customised for some of my previous clients. As you do that, I would like you to imagine what I can create and customize for you.

Nevertheless, bear in mind that it can be very easy to overlook the importance of your wedding cake. Not only is the wedding cake a powerful representation of your marriage, it should also befit the elegance of the occasion and provide a strong focal point at the reception.

Choice

Designs: My dream is to provide elegantly designed wedding cakes made to my clients’ specifications. I use a variety of special decorating techniques including delicate cuts and trellis-work. I also use a variety of hand-crafted sugar flowers to form sprays of flowers. These are professionally arranged on individual cakes to meet the specifications of the clients. I incorporate both British and American accents and accessories such as filigree heart frames, scrolls, lacy hearts, filigree swirls, iridescent doves and grapes etc.

There are numerous design possibilities; no design is too difficult or impossible. As each design is specially made for you, a personal, no obligation consultation will ensure that we create the design you require.

Shapes and Sizes

You can go classic or contemporary. The important thing is that you really go for what you want on your special day. You can choose from square, round, petal, heart, hexagonal, oval or rectangular. Nevertheless be informed that the servings from unusual shapes will differ from those coming from a more classic shape. You can also choose to be more exploratory and go for the unusual such as individually iced miniature cakes or cupcakes. These are also available in a variety of shapes and sizes.

Any cake design can be adapted to fit any size wedding. You should not let the number of servings determine the look of your cake. If the design of your dream cake does not fit the number of servings required, simply modify it to fit the wedding size.

For example, if you want the look of a big wedding cake, but do not need that many servings for your size reception, you can include iced and decorated cake dummies. This gives the illusion of a larger cake without increasing serving sizes. Also certain cake designs such as tiers set on pillars , give the illusion of a larger cake.

If you want more cake servings, you can choose from the following options:

Add a larger bottom tier

Increase the size of each tier

Add satellite cakes. These give a bountiful effect on the reception table. Another bonus is that the satellite cakes are very easy to serve.

You can also have extra cakes in the kitchen for extra servings.

Want Fewer Cake Servings?

Subtract a tier usually the bottom tier

Reduce the size of the tiers

Reduce the size or / and number of the satellite cakes.

Cake Stands

There is a wide choice of cake pillars and stands on which to display wedding cakes. Perspex and chrome stands are very attractive and versatile. These are becoming increasingly popular with today’s discerning brides. Let me inspire you. Colour-Flow-Fountain

This is an electric fountain filled with coloured water to harmonize with the colour of scheme of the occasion. The coloured water cascades dramatically from three levels. This looks spectacular with every tiered cake design. Highly recommended!
